Watch It

Here's a fantastic 2-part video by a midwife in CA. Take a look and tell me what you think in a comment perhaps.

I really love hearing such positivity about birth. These people obviously experienced something wonderful.

I watched this video this morning. It made me cry. Each time I watch something about home births and how the women felt, it makes me sad and nostalgic for all the things I missed out on during my own birth. I did like the sentiment the one woman gave about how a normal girl can do it and you don't have to be a vegetarian earthy type of mother.

What beautiful, happy people! I really love the format they used to present these stories...very different from the Russian Water Birth video :) I think my favorite aspect is how they share their labor stories, they tell them with joy, laughter, humor, and confidence, so different than the beginning of the video when they share their hospital experiences.

Thanks for sharing! I'll be passing on the link! Hope you have a beautiful day!r

Wonderful video.
I feel so blessed that my mother opened the door to home birth for me, I was 9 years old when my sister was born at home and in my mind that has always been the way you have a baby, at home surrounded by your midwives who are your friends and by your family. Everyone at a birth should be Supportive and loving!
Many of my friends have had standard hospital births and when I hear about them I can not help but think that they had a procedure and not a birth, it breaks my heart to think of all the mothers out there who are missing such an integral part of motherhood, the real, birth of their baby without all the drugs and unnecessary intervention. I would not trade the memory of any one of my 3 labors, they are as much a part of me as my children are. The memories are treasures I keep. Labor is so much more than just that, it is a part of being a woman and a mother and is a grand experience.

"Empowering." "Intense." Both are so totally true! I liked that so many of the people in the videos are dr's themselves and recognize the broken system. I may post these on my facebook page, knowing it's likely that I'll get lots of negative comments, but every once in a while, someone is interested!! Anyway, thanks for sharing!!
